People-friendly homes, towns and cities

Our sprawling suburbs and cities with poorly designed homes and workplaces leave us cold in winter, hot in summer and car dependent. We even use precious drinking water in toilets.

Properly insulated, water efficient, passive solar buildings can provide cheaper to run, comfortable, affordable homes and workplaces.  Efficient cars, combined with people-friendly, compact town-site design also save energy and time:

Paul took action to:

  • Ensure all new homes and commercial and industrial buildings meet best practice for energy efficiency, and water efficiency, recycling and conservation
  • Create a financial incentive program to retrofit all existing homes and commercial buildings with best practice water and energy efficient fittings and appliances
  • Mandate solar and other energy efficient hot water services for all homes and business
  • Limit urban sprawl in all towns and cities in the region and revitalise town centres and existing town sites through green building codes and increased density
  • Rebate energy efficient and electric cars
  • Establish high-speed passenger rail links between Perth and Busselton and Perth to Albany
  • Restore regional passenger and rail freight links in the region particularly the Bunbury to Manjimup line, and Perth to Albany
  • Extend cycling and walking networks.
