Water security and restoring catchments

Paul’s took action to:

  • Restore the six critical south west water catchments of Collie, Warren, Tone, Denmark Hay, Donnelly and Helena, using integrated farm forestry to produce sawn timber, bioenergy feed stocks, woodchips, fibres and agricultural products. The first priority is Collie-Wellington.
  • Reduce demand on water catchments and groundwater reserves through water conservation standards for households, business and agriculture.
  • Prevent the export of Yarragadee water to Perth.
  • Oppose desalination facilities in the region unless they are fully powered by additional renewable energy generated within the region.
  • Establish an interconnected network of native vegetation/waterway corridors throughout the landscape.
