A Clean Energy Future

We can have a clean energy future based on renewable energy, if we put the right laws and incentives in place.  In 2006, Paul succeeded in passing the WA Renewable Energy Target Bill through the Upper House of State Parliament, and his motion for a ‘feed-in law’ that would give a guaranteed price to solar and wave technologies, was passed in 2009. The continued construction of conventional coal-fired power stations worldwide is the major factor driving climate change.  On World Environment Day, 5 June 2008, Paul introduced a Bill to stop conventional coal-fired power stations from being built in Western Australia. Find out more...
 


A New Water Ethic for Western Australia

Our water resources are limited and becoming scarce. It is time for us to be smarter and more responsible water users. Paul introduced his Water Services (Water Conservation Target) Amendment Bill in 2008, calling for a range of water efficiency initiatives.  Find out more...

Farmers need to be supported to produce food and products in a way that also helps restore our catchments, particularly our priority water catchments like the Collie-Wellington.

End Logging in Native Forests

Paul has called on the Parliament to wind up logging in native forests and shift to a sustainable plantation and farm forestry industry.
Many of the south west’s native forests are severely depleted after decades of clearing, mismanagement and over cutting by Government and industry. These forests should be protected, conservedand restored to their former magnificence.  Find out more...

Paul actively supported grass roots communities in the South West during his term.  He gave a voice in Parliament for communities concerned about inappropriate coastal development, pollution, local health services and other issues.
