About Paul

Paul Llewellyn

Paul took a leading role in climate, energy and water initiatives during his term:

  • Received unanimous support for his motion for a renewable energy feed-in tariff.
  • Introduced the WA Renewable Energy Targets Bill, which passed through the Upper House in 2006.
  • Introduced legislation for water conservation targets, solar hot water systems, and emissions controls for power stations.
  • Called for a Low Carbon Fuel Standard, adopted as the WA Biofuels Taskforce final recommendation.

Paul supports community enterprise and innovation in agro-forestry, renewable energy, water conservation, regional land use planning, and native forest conservation in the south west region.

Nonviolence and personal integrity are part of his core values.

Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Murdoch University in 1977, and a Masters in Natural Resource Management from the UWA school of Agricultural and Resource Economics in 1984.  He has worked as an environmental planning and management consultant, a builder, and wind-energy planner. He has lived and worked in and around the South West for more than 30 years. He was elected to Parliament in 2005 and served until 2009.
